Built a scalable icon system that unified ZUUM’s visual language across desktop and mobile products.

01
Overview
As ZUUM’s platform expanded across desktop and mobile applications, the product experience started to feel visually disconnected. Different teams had created icons at different stages of the company’s growth, which led to inconsistencies in style, sizing, and usability throughout the platform. I led the effort to create a unified icon system that aligned with ZUUM’s brand aesthetic and supported a more cohesive product experience. The goal wasn’t just to redesign icons, it was to build a scalable visual language that could grow with the product ecosystem.

Challenge
The biggest challenge was balancing clarity, consistency, and scalability across complex logistics workflows. Some icons were overly detailed while others lacked clear meaning, especially for transportation-specific actions that didn’t have standard visual patterns. Because the platform was used daily by shippers, brokers, and carriers managing fast-moving operations, every icon needed to communicate quickly without adding cognitive load.

Result
I designed a unified icon library supported by clear design guidelines covering stroke weight, spacing, sizing, alignment, and interaction states. This system was easy to implement and maintain across products for designers and engineers. It reduced a lot of redundant design work, and helped teams create a more polished user experence.
